Dusty Chains

And someday when the lights go dim and the sun goes down,
I'll be the one to hold your hand and whisk you away through
this dusty town, we both know you can't go on like this, so let me
take you far far away, to a place where the sun always rises and
the stars always shine, raise your middle finger to this dusty town,
it's time to make a get away

The skeletons in your closet can't hurt you now love,
so lets rip this town apart tonight, and shake off all the secrets
because the way they look at us will only bring you down and baby,
I've had enough of all that hurt slipping from your eyes,
so take my hand and tonight we will shake the dust from our feet,
it's time to make a get away

And as the town's hold slowly drops from your eyes, I promise
I will be here to protect you for always, just take my hand and let
me take you far far away, to a place where your weariness may flee
we will take the first bus to anywhere and forget the accusing eyes
as the lights go dim and the sun goes down, lets make a get away

These Are The Nights

The brush of his lips across her cheek captures her inhale
trembling fingers ache to touch a love like every told fairytale
she pulls up her hair, letting her ears stick out so small
she just met him but already the emotion is there, and already
the walls are crumbling to ash, already she is slipping away
---
Wasted nights and careless phone calls, voices create a symphony
this might be the worst mistake of our lives, she whispers fearfully
and yet, clenched hands fight the cold, hard evidence of the situation
don't worry I promise to catch you, he whispers urgently
and as the story unfolds neither can deny it, already they are
slipping, already the walls are crumbling into soft ash
---
These are the nights, the nights where there bodies entwine pulsing
without thought, without hesitation, her eyes begin to glow as she
begins to realize, and his smile fails to hide the emotion that is there
neither fear, as they inwardly fight to push against the grain
captured, her eyes speak only of crumbling ash and whispered lips
as his shaking finger tips pulse a current that is slowly but surely,
tugging at young hearts, and they're slipping, slipping away tonight

The Secret of Last December

The secret of last December begins to seep through the cracks
in your oh so perfect existence, the words you spit forth continue
to prove to me that there is nothing left to believe in, this winter
has never been more cold and your eyes have never held more lies,
against the grain the sun arises bringing forth a new summer,
yet you continue to push and pull, shattering hopes and
driving a nail straight through our perfect portraits
-+-
You say he deserves it, but when the anvil finally slams
the family tree falls, a walking disaster this becomes and the
five year old cannot cry enough, everything becomes nothing
and neither understand how unbalanced we have now become
defying the very image you believe in, it’s too late to even hope
on a prayer, alone I sit in my room, surrounded by old portraits of
laughter and family, yet now scarred I'm on my way out

You've Lost Me

He reached for her hand whispering “I don’t want to lose you”

As the bell begins to toll, remember the nights so long ago
Shooting stars and crashing waves upon the sand
A thousand stories and secrets given so freely
I thought my fairytale had just begun, but as the tears
Fall from your blue eyes I realize this was simply a lie

Curled up beneath my comforter, your letters lie
In torn bits across the floor, watch the candle set flame
To what had once been words of assurance and adoration
Numbness begins to crawl across my shoulders and down my arms
Causing the last memory of you to slip from my mind

And before I can even wrap my mind around this misconception
Your eyes dry and the same smile replaces all hope
Of a future, I am standing right before you and yet,
I know I am dead in your mind,

And as you reach for my hand I cannot help but whisper,
“but you don’t want to keep me either”

Imaginary Girl

Following the wind, close your eyes for the storm is arriving
The birds are all dead and gone, chapped lips breathe in a new ending
The trail of snow smell carries beyond the far door to the other world
The glance of an imaginary girl shatters your wildest fantasies
She is the princess with no land, the mystery of the unknown
The light of a fairy illuminates, as the princess escapes your mind
Her ray of light explodes amongst the naked birch and dead birds
The delicacy of an unrealized dream depicts the sun’s journey
Scattered sensations shoot from the forgotten princess’s fingertips
A fairy’s tear, a ghost song, a ripped sky, and fragile memories
Mixed together explode in flashing rainbows and shooting stars
Becomes such beautiful decay as imaginary girl finds blissful suicide
Watch as she exhales ghosts and drifts through your ending dream
Following the trail of ash, open your eyes and see the morning
The birds are gone, the princess has vanished beyond the far door
Breathe in a new ending, and walk your body through mine
